If I bleach my hair, and then decide to dye it a permanent vibrant red, will it fade to pink? I have heard that this happens, and I don't want it to. If there a way that this wont happen. I have fairly dark hair and I think bleaching it will be the only way to get it light enough for the red I want. Any suggestions?

Try a wig first.

Having it professionally done is your only option. I went platinum blonde for awhile and then went red...It was like a champaign pink...horrible. Something the beauticians know that we don't...better to trust them with it.

Bleach it, wait a week dye it red - if it turns pink just dye it red again. I used to bleach my hair a lot, and be careful bc it really does fall out after a while.

Yes it will, but do it professionaly...also..it would fry your hair, so I wouldn't reccomend you bleaching your hair, then you have to bleach it over and over again as the roots grow again, and you;ll regret it, trust me, I regret damaging my hair severely...it's dry, and constantly sheds...are you sure you want to do this? I cry about this everynight thinking I will go bald...but best of luck

If you use a rinse and it turns pink and you want red, just blowdry and put another rinse, it's just rinse not permanent dye......
If I bleach my hair...?
Yes it most certainly will fade. You may only need to lighten it a bit, if it's brown, lighten to gold, etc.
Really really dark hair cannot hold a vibrant red dye--you'll end up with pink.
But if it's dark brown hair, you might be OK.
And use the shampoo for "red hair" that'll keep the color for a while.
If I bleach my hair...?
yes, it will fade into pink eventually... theres like no way to prevent it other than re-dying it every few months

Use a color remover, u can buy it in walmart or try cvs but use that n only leave it in for a lil while then rinse it and dye your hair. but becareful the color u see in the box will be the exact color u get once u use a color remover. I wanted my hair strawberry blonde and it came out really light just like the girl in the box lolz. thankfully it got a little darker cuz i blow out my hair everyday. but if u want it really red then use a color remover first then dye it

I think if you want a strong color lighter then your own, the hairdresser would also bleach it first. If you have doubts, maybe you should test it with a little piece of your hair first.
If you color your hair, it always will fade later on. In that case you have to dye it again to keep the color as strong as in the beginning.

I'm not a hair dresser but I think that you should not bleach your hair and then dye it you just might end up bold
If I bleach my hair...?
Dont bleach it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that would ruin it!!!!just use a strong red on the color of hair ya got, it will make it a dark red. thats as good as it gets

Technically you would need to STRIP your hair, not bleach it, and no matter what the box says, permanent dyes do fade. If you have dark hair, and you want to change it that drastically, i would definitely suggest going to a hair color specialist who can at least strip it correctly without completely damaging your hair, and then allow them to place whatever dye you want on it. When your hair is bleached or stripped, the pores of the hair folicle are opened, which will cause any dark colors or dyes to fade. When you have darker hair to begin with and you chose to go with a red or a darker color, you hair folicles and pores are not as wide open which locks in the color. I am a total blonde with highlights, and when I chose to have red chunks placed in my hair over the blonde, it stayed for maybe two weeks before it started turning pink, it was really a nightmare, but my stylist/colorist warned me it would eventually happen because of the bleaching process opening the pores.
GO TO A PROFESSIONAL, at least that way you have a chance of keeping a bit longer than you would at home, and if it starts to fade, do what a lot of people do, but refuse to admit it, mix up an unsweetened packet of whatever color kool aid with a small amount of water. Put it on and let it sit for a little while(30 mins). That dye will adhear to the bleached hair, but it too will fade. ALSO, remember if you choose not to go to a stylist, with your hair being dark, and you wanting to strip it....it may take more than one try because darker hair is harder to strip, and you may end up breaking your hair off, or burning your scalp, that is why I recommend going to a stylist.

I have very dark hair as well. The only way I managed to dye my hair red was to pick up a bleaching kit. Some work better than others and the best that I have purchased came out of a hot topic. I believe they still carry it although I don閳ユ獩 remember what it was called(a black and white box). It is true that the color intensity will fade to pink around 2-3 weeks. I know of no other way to prevent it other than having to drop the cash to touch it up every few weeks.
"luck"

Yes it will turn slightly pinkish. Red is the hardest colour to maintaina as it easily fades out. I suggest you look for L'OREAL, for brunettes, it works to enhance colour dying for ppl wit darker hair. Good Luck
