Can I color my hair now without frying it?

For the last couple years I had been getting my hair dyed pretty regularly, id say every 6 weeks. One day my stylist convinced me to let him do some pink, he was supposed to sneak in just a little bit. Well, my whole head was magenta. I went to my aunt who also is a stylist and she did something she called a shampoo cap. It stripped most of the color, down to a light reddish color that we covered with brown so it would look more natural. This was 5 months ago. She advised me to leave it alone for awhile so my hair could recover from all the treatment. (His + Hers) After this time, my hair has faded to a reddish/brownish tone (its not beautiful OR ugly, id say tolerable) with about 3 inches of my natural grow-out up top (light brown with flecks of blonde). Id REALLY like to lighten it up now, or at least just throw in some highlights. Im afraid though that this will destroy my hair. Would I be okay or should I not risk it?

Leave your hair alone, I wouldn't take that risk.

I'd say you are good to go get it dyed again, but you may consider getting a moisture therapy a few days after your color if the salon provides such services and be prepared to cut off quite a bit of hair, you probably really damaged it and the ends will be the worse...that is if you haven't been getting regualr hair cuts during this non dying period. Good luck!

if your hair is relatively thin i think you can still work with it. go ahead and make it a light brown with some strawberry blonde (or whatever color you'd like!) highlights! it'll be ok if you've been coloring your hair for that long. i'm assuming your hair is pretty much straight but if it gets frizzy go ahead and try using a frizz serium (most are the same so whatever you want is gine) and straighten your hair to make it shiney and sleek.

a few hydrating tips: (you can always ask ur aunt too!)

1. mix 8 strawberries and 1 tablespoon mayonise together, massage it into your hair and put on a shower cap and then a warm towel. leave on for 30 mins, and wash out w/ cold water

2. beat 2 eggs and little milk and massage it into dampened hair. leave for 5 mins and then shampoo and condition it out.

3. use a deep conditioning treatment once a week (e.g. garnier fructise 3minute conditioner)

GOOD LUCK DEAR!
