How should I style my hair to make me look prettier?

Essentially my hair is sort of like a mop right now. College is not exactly conducive to great hair--especially finals week =)

Also, there are a few guys I like back home, but I'm too shy and insecure to approach them. I feel like I look like a gorilla but with a decent smile.

What hair style do you think may help downplay my plain jane/ugly face?

And no you're ugly comment; I already know that. I just want to know how to fix my hair better to minimize it a tad. In reality, my skin is a lot fairer because I'm half persian. Prison lighting makes me look yellow so you can see my rather fair skin and pink-with-blush cheeks.

Honestly for you, I would also maybe get a more shaped brow, that would look really pretty on you. :)

Hair -- Honestly, you already have short hair, I cant see a side view of you to get your headshape, but why dont you try an inverted bob with razor cutting in the front to take bulk out and give it a pieceier look?

Then explain to them you want it thinned because you have a TON of hair.

If you go to a well trained and educated stylist, they will have no problem doing this for you.

That is my opinion.

First of all I don't think you're ugly, you have good features. Secondly highlights work wonders on hair, I would recommend getting some highlights and getting a few layers and some side bangs

I don't think you are ugly at all! You are very pretty. I love your skin tone. Your hair is actually quite cute. A nice look would be to curl the ends so they flip out and wear a headband with that. This is a old picture and not great quality, but this is sorta what I am talking about.

Or, you could get a whole new cut! Bobs are in. You can get very layered, thinned out hair that is very easy to style. Something like this:

I saw the pictures, you need to be less self-deprecating. You need to appreciate realistically you are very pretty, and I'm not your mother! Your hair looks maybe somewhat on the dry side, a good leave-in conditioner may be useful. Some layers around the last two inches or so would take off some of the weight. If you want to go all the way, get a shagged cut from someone who has been cutting hair since the 80's! When you go into a beauty salon, shop etc, make sure they are nice, not a "holy hair god" find a cosmetologist who talks with you and answers your questions, many have forgotten or are just not able to educate people about their hair, they are far too interested in selling! Stay away from these!

You should out grow your hair. My recommendation - dont have layers above your chin. That will frame your pretty face better.

Now - since growing out takes time you have to get it to look good in the mean time.

First - I don't recommend a flat iron. But I do recommend a JUMBO curling iron - with a 2-inch barrel. This does not curl your hair but it will style the ends for you.

Deep condition everyday - I like the neutrogena deep conditioner. It will keep your hair healthy while it grows and allow you to apply heat with little worry.

You don't have to splurge on expensive hair cuts for a while. I would just go to super cuts and have them give you a trim on the very very ends once every 6-8 weeks. And don't let them touch the top layers for every hair cut - only every other. You want the top layers to catch up to the bottom.

Ask them that when they trim they just clip the ends straight across. No fancy layers or curves. Once you have grown out and every thin is one length - shoulder bob - you will be set and ready to move to the next step.

Right now also - if you wanted to add some wow to your hair i would get a box of natural instincts in a very dark shade - jet black or dark berry and put it in there for a brighter darker shade.

No highlights until you are all one length.

i love your hair, take it from a person with a fine hair, you're lucky to have hair like that! i guess it depends on what style you want, if you want shorter hair i reccoment maybe a bob, but i don't think it would suit your face shape, if you want it longer let it grow bue make sure to get it trimmed every 6-8 weeks and there's always extensions, as long as you get them in the same colour as your hair they'll look good.
